Hey, look, I saved up enough money for a while to buy a new widescreen monitor so that I don’t have to struggle trying to do graphics stuff (like TFBC!) with my itty bitty monitor from 2002! No problem, I upgraded my motherboard two years ago so it should be able to recognize and handle this widescreen monitor… WRONG!
Argh – I ended up having to reinstall Windows all day today and other applications all day trying to get my computer/graphics card/motherboard to recognize my new monitor and then get it configured to a widescreen resolution. Turns out I could do neither, but I still wasted a ton of time. Probably at this point, I’m going to have to get a new graphics card. Durnit, was so looking forward to this new monitor. :-\
Anyway, I’m still reinstalling stuff (luckily I didn’t lose any data), so there won’t be a comic this week. :p
Other than that, hope everyone has a great Easter holiday!
Hay, before laying your money down on a new graphics card, check to see if the card’s manufacture has any new divers. It sounds to me it might be just a driver problem with a possible Firmware update.
That’s what I was trying to do when Windows crapped out on me. 🙁
After reinstalling and getting everything set up, it looks like this graphics card (integrated w/ the motherboard) only allows for one widescreen resolution. Luckily, it is the one I wanted, so at this point I’m set back up. I’ll probably still upgrade my graphics card, but I will probably put it off until this summer when I save up some more $$$.
